Autosampler problem

I have a problem with our autosampler (BACS-120), which unfortunately
began just after Bruker closed for the holidays. I thought maybe someone
out there might have a hint for me of something to try till they get back.

The problem is that every few samples we get an error saying the pinchers
won't close. What happens is that they close on a sample, either at the
magnet or at the carousel, and then open up again with the error message
and just stop the system there. It doesn't happen every time, maybe about
20% of the time, though. Pressing the reset button on the changer clears
the problem and lets the queue continue, at least if it is noticed in
time.

This began happening after a period when the temperature in the lab stayed
over 80 F for several days, over our long Christmas weekend. The
conditions also caused a crash of one of my big disk drives (on another
instrument) and a failure on a laser printer (just a fuse, fortunately).

I guess I just should have taken this week off too.
