Peter Stilbs asked:

Does anyone know where one can get hold of a pair of these nice and
convenient 'de-icing devices' / 'cold dissipators', made of aluminium
profile, with an inverted U-tube at the top, intended for the nitrogen
outlets on Bruker supercon magnets ? Our new AMX-300WB was delivered
without these, that used to be a standard option in the past.
Rumour says, that due to some patent conflict, Bruker will not ship
these anymore.

As others have pointed out, there are good reasons to see the ice build-up but for those wishing to remove the ice there is another way. Two members of my staff came up with a rather simple/inexpensive solution involving large-fin aluminum heat sinks and compression fittings. They are preparing a brief description of what they did and sources for the components used. We would be happy to share this with anyone asking.
