WORM -> Indy

Fellow NMRists,

Does anyone out there have any experience transferring
large amounts of archived Bruker spectra from a WORM drive
mounted on an X32 to another Unix box for final transfer onto
the new DLT tape medium ?

We have decided to upgrade our CPU/3 AMX500 to CPU/4, a
path which includes moving to an Indy. The WORM drive is/was
our archiving medium up to now, but I am informed by Bruker
that a software driver is not available for the Indy ( from
them ). We have five years data, amounting to > 60Gb ( gulp!)
and we would like to transfer the data rapidly, so that our
new/other console(s) will continue to be able to access the
archive.

Currently we are "opto"ing a file ( 99% 1D ), "rcp"ing it
to another host and then "rm -r"ing it from the X32's disk.
We know that we have > 66k files for a total transfer but the
bottleneck is the upload from the WORM disk, a simple 1D takes
over _3_ minutes !! Running 24 hours a day means a total time
of 0.2 million minutes, that's 20 weeks to you and me.

Does anyone know if the "opto" command is crippled to run
slowly ?, or any constructive ideas on how to speed the
process up ( by an order of magnitude if possible ).
Alternatively, does anyone know of a third party who would
attempt the task, preferably in the UK ?
