FTP from Netscape to PC based server.

I've been downloading ASPECT files to a PC and using Windows based FTP
servers like WinQVT/Net and IIFTP to make them available to other workers
for local processing.

This works well enough, providing the servers are accessed from simple FTP
clients. However, attempts to contact these servers from Netscape 2.0 just
result in error messages (there is a log-on, but the browser says it cannot
find the directory).

This seems to be a general problem with PC based FTP servers. The software
companies acknowledge a problem--- which they will address at some later time.

I got a hint from some software notes that access IS possible, "providing
the URL is properly expressed for the directory required"---whatever that means.

Can anybody help?

Regards Jim Bloxsidge.
