UNIX-based versus NT based software

Dear All,

"we are contemplating our first XWinNMR system and trying to decide between
the SGI or NT Workstation computers."

I've had about a dozen responses to this.

General feeling---NT is probably the way of the future for most users.

Problem----Is it a commercial product yet?

University of Massachusetts have been beta-testing and like it.

A user from Imperial College, London, spent a week in the US on a 400 with
NT and hated it. She reported that it was a "complete nightmare" and
crashed repeatedly!

-----------------------------

Bruker UK have not yet got any customer feedback to report. They have just
installed an NT demo machine and state that their applications guy has
found a few bugs but is "very impressed".

If Bruker USA have any experience, or customer feedback, I'm sure we would
all like to hear from them.

---------------

Conclusion, so far----We'll probably go for NT, but it would be nice to
hear about some solid day-to-day experience with it.

Anybody else out there with something to contribute to this?

Jim Bloxsidge.
