The DuPont Pharmaceuticals Company is looking of an experienced NMR
spectroscopist to join its Discovery Chemistry Department. Qualified
candidates must possess a Ph.D., or M.S. degree in analytical or organic
chemistry with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience, possess a solid
background in the use of NMR spectroscopy to characterize small
molecules, and have a strong background in organic chemistry. Previous
experience with Varian NMR spectrometers is preferred, but not
required. A proficient knowledge of the UNIX operating system is
essential, and experience in UNIX systems administration and shell
script programming is a plus. Good organizational, interpersonal and
communication skills are also required.
Responsibilities of the position include overseeing the maintenance of
the NMR spectrometers, managing the daily operation of the NMR facility,
working directly with Discovery and Development chemists in applying NMR
to solve structure problems, and collaborating with other analytical
groups in order solve structure problems. The Discovery Chemistry group
at DuPont Pharmaceuticals has four 300 MHz NMRs, two 400 MHz, one 500
MHz NMRs, and a 200 MHz system for solid state NMR.
