Solution NMR Postdoctoral Position at Albert Einstein College of Medicine

From: Mark Girvin (girvin@aecom.yu.edu)
Date: Fri Mar 23 2001 - 08:59:33 PST

POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP: STRUCTURAL STUDIES ON THE CLASS IA p85/p110
Phosphoinositide 3-Kinase
A funded postdoctoral position is available for structural NMR studies
on the regulation of the p85/p110 PI 3-kinase. Studies will focus on the
mechanism by which phosphoprotein binding to the SH2 domains of p85
leads to activation of the p110 catalytic subunit.

NMR INSTRUMENTATION:
The Structural NMR Resource at Albert Einstein College of Medicine
(www.bioc.aecom.yu.edu/labs/girvlab/nmr/) is equipped with a Bruker 600
MHz spectrometer with four channels, three-axis gradients, and deuterium
decoupling. We also have a two-channel, but otherwise similarly
equipped Bruker 300 for small molecule work, sample evaluation, and an
additional field strength for relaxation measurements. This resource
complements the pre-existing 500, 400, and 200 MHz instruments which are
used for physiological NMR.
Einstein is a full partner in the "New York Structure Center" consortium
(http://mriris.rockefeller.edu:80/NYSBC/), which will give us shared
access to a family of 800 MHz spectrometers, centrally located in NYC,
beginning in Fall 2001.

ENVIRONMENT & LOCATION:
AECOM provides an interactive, collaborative, friendly, and stimulating
environment. The Molecular Pharmacology Department has major strengths
in signal transduction and hormone action. The Biochemistry Department
is particularly strong in mechanistic and structural biochemistry. The
Belfer Institute (www.aecom.yu.edu/belfer/) provides extensive support
for Postdoctoral Fellows at Einstein, coordinating housing, health care,
and professional development activities. The school itself is located
in a pleasant residential neighborhood of the North Bronx, near to
Westchester County (www.aecom.yu.edu/sggd/facilities.htm).

APPLICATION:
The position is available as of 5/1/00. Please send
Curriculum Vitae and three letters of reference to either:
