The following positions are available in the Department of Chemistry,
University of Wollongong, Wollongong, NSW, Australia.
1. Post-Doctoral Research Associate, Fixed Term ? Three Years
An NHMRC ? funded three-year Postdoctoral Research position is available
in protein NMR spectroscopy and protein chemistry. The project will
investigate the structure, function and interactions of small heat-shock
chaperone proteins using mainly NMR spectroscopy and protein chemical
techniques. NMR facilities include a Varian Inova ? 500 and a Bruker DMX
? 600 spectrometers. Excellent protein expression and purification
facilities are also available. Reference 20-324.
2. NMR Facility Manager, Fixed Term ? Three Years
A three-year position is available to manage the NMR facilities, i.e.
Varian Mercury-300 and Inova-500 spectrometers and a Bruker DMX-600
spectrometer (located at UNSW), along with a Sun and Silicon Graphics
workstation network for processing of data. Details of areas of research
interest within the department may be obtained at
www.uow.edu.au/science/chemistry.html. The successful applicant’s prime
role will be to manage the Facility on day-to-day basis. This will
include working with technical staff in maintaining the spectrometers
and research collaboration with the NMR user groups in devising and
implementing relevant NMR experiments. The successful applicant should
have a PhD in NMR spectroscopy, possess good communication skills and
have a strong background in the theory and practical side of modern
multi-dimensional and multi-nuclear NMR spectroscopy. Reference 20-322.
