Dear NMR Colleague:

Two of our aging solid-state NMR spectrometers are still
based
on sixteen-year old Nicolet data systems (1180 computer, 293A or
293B pulse programmer). As you might imagine, it is becoming
increasingly difficult to keep them running, especially the
Diablo Series 30 disk drives.

Most of you probably consider such equipment to be
antiquated junk;and, if you ever had such equipment, you probably
disposed of it years ago. Nevertheles, for some of our work we can
still limp along with old Nicolet data systems, if we can keep
them operational, until we are fortunate enough to be able to
replace them with modern equipment.

If you have any of the following items or know of any
laboratory that might have such items that can be provided
(donated?) to us, please let me know:

Diablo Series 30 disk drives (most urgent)

Nicolet 1280 computer/293 pulse programmer/Hawk CDC disk drive

Your help will be greatly appreciated, especially by the students
who are fighting against unreasonable odds to keep very old
equipment running.

Sincerely,

Gary E. Maciel
