Thank you very much for your concern. Fortunately, we have no damage
whatsoever in the lab. I've decided that the first floor of our new building
is the place to be for such occasions. I couldn't even find anything that
needed to be picked up. It makes the pain of moving to the new building last
summer worth it. (There was a muddy flood through the old NMR lab.)
At home, I had a fair amount of mess but no serious damage. The
chimney did fall off my house, but in Southern CA you don't really need a
chimney anyway. I'm afraid my nerves are shot at this point (as are those
of my 2 children), but we're beginning to return to normal.
Unfortunately, I have no information about the state of Cal State
Northridge. I know many individuals from Northridge who are fine, but I don't
know anyone who knows anything definitive about the University.
