In my lab I have an old PC sitting behind the console which takes the
HPGL output from a serial port on the Aspect and sends it to a Laserjet 4
via the parallel port. Its essentially a serial-to-parallel converter most
of the time. I wrote the software to be interrupt driven so that the Aspect
can 'squirt' data out to the PC fairly rapidly ... there is no polling and
missed characters. It struck me that it would be *very* easy to modify the
program to output to a file instead of the Laserjet. I did this and it works
just fine. If you are interested in the program (and several others that I
have written for the Aspect) it is available by ftp from a file server in
out department. The ftp address is 128.233.15.37 (sorry, no name for this
server yet).
