We just bought a Ricoh MO drive for our X/32. This is my first
experience with magneto-optical drives. I have a question about
buying cartridges.
While I was in the process of negotiating the purchase of a drive,
the Ricoh person I talked to implied that I should buy Ricoh media.
Is this hype? My vendors are quoting prices of around $100 for a
650MB Ricoh cartridge. But I see MO disks for much less in
mail-order catalogs. For example, MISCO has a Maxell cartridge (5
1/4", 512 bytes/sec, 594MB) for $72.69!! Is that really the same
thing as the Ricoh product??
Thanks,
Bill
