Critical probe position!

Many thanks to everyone who responded by email, or postings here!! :-)

I should have provided more details the first time - sorry about that. The probe
has a horizontal (solenoid) coil (diameter ca 7 mm). It is to be used with
oriented lipid samples between stacked glass plates. The magnet is a wide-bore
'100 MHz'. As you can understand this is not even close to 'high-resolution' -
we might expect H1 line-widths in the order of 0.3 ppm (at this field). Shimming
*will* be a 'nightmare', IMHO...

So, I think that we will at least try to shim it up to see how bad it really is.
If it appears to be impossible we will have to send the probe back to the people
who manufactured it...
