We are interested in hooking up an an HP XL300 PaintJet ink jet printer to our
AMX400 running UXNMR. The HP XL300 is capable of interpreting PostScript Level
2, HP/GL2, or PCL5.

Some observations:

When connecting via PostScript using the "ps300" driver, we can obtain only monochrome
output at 8.5 x 11", regardless of the desired paper size (the printer is
actually fitted with tabloid/B size paper). We require B size output. Color is
highly desirable.

When attempting to connect via HP/GL2, we are unable to get UXNMR to recognize
the device. We tried swapping the cable off a working HP7550a, making sure that
the communication parameters were compatible. Trying to print generated an error
message on the printer.

We haven't tried PCL5 yet.

Does anyone have any idea how we might be able to get this device to work
properly? We were originally interested in using it as a replacement for our
aging HP7550a.
