Hello, Every NMR users,

I have asked about the differences between Bruker Magnet and
Oxford Magnet. Here are the comments of other users for 1 week.

In our case, the Oxford 600MHz magnet shows big field drift. I
think that this is a special case of magnet. Bruker and Oxford
agree to change the magnet. We surely, have some benefits when
we choose the Bruker magnet as like additional anti-vibrational
damper, some other negotiable accessory. But I was wonder whether
the real users of Bruker or Oxford 600 MHz magnet feel some
differences practically.

Thank you for everybody.

Gwan-Su,

We have 3 Oxford and 2 Spectrospin magnets. The newer ones seem to
hold helium better, but they have all been good magnets.

Are you just setting up the magnets with an existing console or
are you buying magnets and consoles? If buying with console, you
have much bigger decisions to make!

There are some differences in magnets, but it's hard to say which
is better. The newer Bruker (actually spectrospin) has a larger
fringe field, and a larger "sweet spot" which makes it
easier to initially position the probe, but then you have a larger
"off limits area (ie, the 5 gauss point is further from the magnet).

We have both Oxford and Bruker magnets. I have seen no big difference in them
in physical characteristics. We bought the Bruker magnet over the oxford on
the basis of Price (the bruker was cheaper). The homogeneity characteristics
of a magnet are charactreristic of the individual magnet but I should say the
bruker magent we have is the easiest to shim.

Gwan-Su YI,

It would be difficult to be sure, but the Bruker magnet is probably
the Oxford design. In the past Bruker has licensed Oxford designs and
built their magnets in Switzerland. My advice buy, the cheap one.
