To the NMR family for their opinion

Suject: External referencing in supercons

Thanks for all the suggestions. I found the best explanation of my mental
mistakes in a nice booklet by K.H.Hausser & H.L.Kalbitzer : "NMR in Medicine
and Biology". I worked sometime with liquid crystals (under the guidance of
Prof.Peter Diehl) and I tried once to use a capillary standard in a
non-spinning sample. The results was a doubling of all the lines of the
sample, due precisely to the "Shielding" of the sample upon the capillary. (or
rather: of the capillary upon the sample!). Of course such a "shielding" does
not occur in supercons. But I forgot the susceptibility effects! (and to think
that I have been for years teaching my students the difference betwen the B and
H vectors!).
Thanks again, and best regards!.
