Hi Lawrence,
I am not familiar with the Samsung printer, but we do something similar
with HP Laserjets (3+, 4L, 5L). You will need the DISR/DISB/DISMSL 91
or higher software. We use a non-buffered serial to parallel converter
from Inmac (part no. 812350), the Bruker HP7550 cable and a 25p M-M
gender-bender. The software includes an entry for HPLJ3P under HP
plotters. Serial setup for the converter will be 9600, 7 bits,
No or Odd parity, 2 stop bits, XON=ON and S-P conversion.
The converter MUST be of the non-buffered type as buffering interferes
with plotting.
The DISNMR 91+ includes two commands to switch the mode of the HP
Laserjet from ASCII to HPGL and back. Type the command TOPL in
Disnmr to enable plotting mode and TOPR to go back to printing mode.
You must issue the TOPL command whenever the Laserjet is powered up.
You then can send the plot command (PX/PB etc...) and follow with
the new page command (NP) to eject the plot.
This method relies on Escape sequences built into HP Laserjets and may
not work with the Samsung. You could also try manually setting the
Samsung to accept HPGL and configuring as an HP Plotter (7550 etc...).
If you are successful in using the Samsung printer in this application,
please let us know via the BUM list or email to center@bruker.com
Best Regards,
John Grundy
