Thanks to everyone who responded to my query about SMD interface
replacements. We have now found a way round our problems thanks to
Bruker. Several peolple asked me to let them know if I found any
information about a replacement for the SMD interface. The following
information was sent to me by Roger Munn of Bruker UK (Thanks Roger).

-----------------------------------------------------------

Purchase an SMD drive emulation system - this is possibly what you had
in mind. An SMD emulator comprises a pc based system fitted with one or
more SCSI units. The pc is equipped with firmware (usually addressable
from
an external terminal or laptop) to enable it to emulate a range of SMD
drives. It is fitted with standard 'A' and 'B' cables and plugs directly
into the disc controller.

I certainly have no objection to your putting this information in the
public domain but it is important that it is made clear that Bruker
Spectrospin Ltd have no direct connection with third party manufacturers
of
SMD disk emulators. We also have no direct experience of their use and
can
give no assurances regarding functionality or fitness for purpose but
nevertheless will be as helpful as possible to anyone requiring
assistance
or advice.

I have not had any dealings with this company either, so I cannot add
anything to the above.

Thanks again to all who responded.
