More seriously, when a student comes along with a sample they call
'mystuff/12/2' and enters that for a file name and xwinnmr 1.3 creates a
dataset via edc that it cannot find later (because it's two levels further up
the directory tree) and throws up what appear to be serious errors in the next
acquisition. Even the simplest programs perform sanity checking on such things
as file names.

... perhaps someone might write a replacement module...
