Thanks to everybody that responded to my request for information on how you
keep people (particularly maintainance and construction people) away from
your magnets.

The results were:

Plastic chain, rope or other barrier at 5 G line: 9
Kepad or card lock: 7
Escort people in vicinity of magnet: 7
Coordinate with maintainance management: 6
Warning signs: 6
Bore covers: 1
Disclaimer/Safety summary sheet to visitors: 1

Total # or replies: 19

It is obvious from these numbers that a lot of people do more than one
thing to limit access.

A couple of people also suggested yellow/black floor tape. My experience is
that, while it is useful to have it isn't enough to stop people.

We are currently using signs and floor tape. I think that we are going to
try to use a combination of a keypad lock, plastic chain, coordination
with management and escorting workers.

I think this is a problem that we can best solve by a combination of
approaches because if we have a single technique and it fails we have no
protection at all.

Thanks Again,
Chris Johnston
