2H decoupling on DMX/DRX consoles

Does anyone have words of wisdom regarding 2H decoupling using DMX/DRX
consoles? I am assuming that I would connect the decoupling channel
through to the 2H input via a directional coupler, as I have done
previously on some older consoles, but I wanted to make sure that this was
the best way. Any useful information I get will be summarized.
