In the Structural Chemistry Laboratory of the Preclinical Research a
position is open for a research scientist specialized in NMR spectroscopy
A qualified candidate has a Ph.D. and research experience in liquid NMR,
with documented skills in multidimensional heteronuclear NMR spectroscopy,
preferably with experience in protein structure determination and
screening methodologies. A background in biochemistry, or molecular
biology is desirable, as well the familiarity with software such as InsightII
and FELIX (Molecular Simulations) and with UNIX/SGI in general. An
excellent interpersonal and networking skills and fluency in English are also
required.
The successful candidate will work on two Bruker NMR spectrometers (AC300,
ARX400 MHz with z-gradient) located at the Orion Research Center in Espoo
(Helsinki metropolitan area) and will cooperate with a team of research
scientists involved in the drug discovery process. He/she will be
responsable for studies on the fine structure of products, the structure of
peptides and proteins, the drug target-ligand interactions and binding
characterization. He/she will eventually perform also metabolic studies
on isolated perfused organs and detection and quantification of metabolites
and xenobiotics in biological fluids or extracts. Moreover, he/she will take
part in research cooperation with academic groups studying protein and
protein-ligand structures with higher field spectrometers.
Salary level will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
