Key words: IRIS 5.3 to 6.5, disk full error, INDY system
I would appreciate if any of you folks can share your experience with
the topics.
I tried but not successfull to upgrade my SGI-INDY (64 MRAM) with 4.5G
disk from IRIS5.3 to 6.5.
I searched the sgi site,http://techpubs.sgi.com/library on IRIS6.5 but
cannot find any related tips with this kind of complication.
Would appreciate any comment, ideas, and help you may suggest,

Details:
Before the attempt of upgrading, the machine has been working well on
IRIS5.3 with XWINNMR2.5.
and the disk is relatively new (3 months) and has been formated with
IRIS5.3.
I made a new file system on this bootdisk and loaded all the 7 CDs of
the iris6.5 in via the minroot .
Every things went fine and the available diskspace is close to 4 G
(echoed from the inst program).
also cheching conflicts before the "go' there is no conflicts
But as soon as I start the installation: inst> go
it checked out pre-installation disk space etc and starting loading
FOUNDATION-1
somewhere after 15 mintues into the installation,
read and finish with FOUNDATION-1, prompt for Applications CD
about half way in reading the application CD
the system will end up a loop with error:
Process [inst] ran out of disk space! ??
The only way to stop it is powering off!!
I have tried repeating the procedures many times (~4) from ground
zero, namely reboot the miniroot from CD, but the same things happened.
I have used different CDROM drive, exchange all scsi cables etc. and
will try to use a different diskdrive as soon as I can get hold of one.
I have more details troubleshoot for those who would like to help
further.
