Hello BUM,

Just a quick follow on from Werner's comments. We at Bruker UK have in the
past made a number of upgrades from IRIX 5.3 to 6.5 that have led to rather
long exercise of debugging long lists of conflicts.

In the past the only reason for performing such upgrades, has been at the
customers request, to eliminate the need for reloading other packages, or
that the customer doesn't have a means to archive the data.

>From our experiences, it is by far the a better method to reload the O/S
from scratch, which facilitates a quicker and less troublesome installation.
IRIX 6.5 does consume more Hard disk and RAM than 5.3 so it's essential to
make these upgrades.

One useful feature of upgrading the disk, is that you can still connect and
access the old disk and existing data.

Regards

Winston Belle
