reading Aspect 3000 tapes from a Sun

Hi all,

I've got a problem. I need to read a bunch of old Aspect 3000
1/2" 9-track tapes but don't have an Aspect 3000. I've purchased
a new 9-track tape drive and have it running on a Sun
workstation. However, I'm not able to retrieve the data off of
the tapes.

I would appreciate any and all experiences regarding this
matter. Any info on tape format such as header, labels, block
size, etc. would also be very helpful.
