AspectStation and spect wont talk

Greetins BUMmers - its been a while, but I'm off the GE Omega orphans list,
and back to old Bruker NMR's instead!

Here at MIT, we are shuffling computers and spectrometer and consoles.
We have just moved an AMX2 console onto a 4.7T imaging magnet. Along the
way, the previous host computer, an AspectStation, died. So I am now
resurrecting another ApsectStation out of storage.

This computer had a lot of bugs in its XWIN-NMR installation, so I
reinstalled the boot-tape. I had to initiliza the disk sectors - unix works
fine, the host can connect out to anywhere on the local net, but cannot talk
to the X32 in the spectrometer (telnet spect or ping spect repeatedly
fails). The X32 has been reset, and turned on/off numerous times now, to no
avail.

Is there anything else that can be done??
(It did work previously in this location - we got a spectrum while the
previous XWIN installation was falling to pieces)

XWIN-NMR has not yet been installed on the freshly initialized system - is
this a problem??

Thanks

Ross Mair
