*** NEW POSITIONS AT ASTRAZENECA, GOTHENBURG, SWEDEN ***
The Structural Chemistry Laboratory, Molndal, is a research facility serving
the whole of the AstraZeneca organization, whose role it is to provide and
promote the use of protein structural information in the drug design
process. The laboratory has over 25 people and the core disciplines in the
laboratory are X-ray crystallography, NMR spectroscopy, computational
chemistry and protein engineering. Two positions are currently available
within the Structural Chemistry Laboratory. The positions require
enthusiasm, flexibility and the ability to interact in a team and
communicate effectively.
NMR spectroscopist
We are looking for a PhD with hands-on experience with NMR spectroscopy to
join the NMR Group at the Structural Chemistry Laboratory, Molndal, Sweden.
The candidate should have a strong interest in studying molecular
interactions by NMR. A background in biochemistry, biophysics or organic
chemistry is advantageous. This is an extremely challenging position in a
fast developing field. The NMR laboratory is excellently equipped with a
600MHz NMR spectrometer interfaced to sample and liquid handling robotic
systems for high throughput work and an 800MHz NMR spectrometer. For further
information please contact Karl Hard (phone: +46-31-776 1604 or email
karl.hard@astrazeneca.com).
Protein chemist
We are looking for a protein chemist with experience in molecular biology
for the production of labeled proteins for NMR studies or to take the
scientific lead in the crystallization of proteins. The candidate will join
the Protein Engineering Group, which is dedicated to the production of
proteins in a suitable format for structural analysis by NMR and X-ray
crystallography. The laboratory is well equipped with facilities for
molecular biology, fermentation, protein purification, characterization and
crystallization together with a range of analytical techniques such as
LC-MS, CD, ITC, fluorescence spectroscopy, analytical ultracentrifugation
and dynamic light scattering. The applicant should have a PhD in biological
sciences or equivalent working experience in either academic or industrial
environment. For further information please contact Niek Dekker (phone:
+46-31-776 2813 or email: niek.dekker@astrazeneca.com)
