Dear Bruker Users,
We have an AC200 with a BACS60 sample changer that deals with a very large
proportion of the NMR work required here. The automation software is of my
own design and runs, unattended, continuously, and keeps its own logbook.
Well, I say unattended, but of course it needs its plotter paper, LN2 and
LHe replenished from time to time, and the BACS60 thinks it's done
everything if it counts 60 samples changed. That's easily sorted by
pressing its reset switch every morning. (Anyone know how to hack its ROM?)
More irritating though is DISNMR's internal counter. Not a lot of people
know this, but there's a counter inside DISNMR (DISR94 if you want to be
precise) that counts sample changes up to 1000 and then won't allow any
more. This is very tiresome, because it's not always convenient to restart
DISNMR, and hence reset this counter, every day, week, month or whatever.
Can anyone who's looked into the guts of DISNMR notice (and remember!)
where this counter is? I'd love to write a software reset for the damned
thing, but I can't find it! I'm familiar with the usual Pascal recipes for
handling the parameter table, in case you're wondering.
Yes, I know it's reckoned to be old junk, but this machine eats work and
runs like a dream (almost). This is one of its last rough edges. Naturally,
there's no money for any alleged 'upgrade'.
Thanks, more in hope than expectation,
Alan
