My recommendation is to use VNC Server on the host and VNC Viewer on the client. Run Xwinnmr within the virtual desktop. Can also use ssh secure link.

Subject: running xwinnmr remotely from Linux
Hi Bummers,
I'm trying (unsuccessfully) to open XwinNMR on an SGI remotely from a new
Linux box. If anyone has been successful at this? If so, please help.
Cheers,
