Intellectual Property (IP) refers to ideas or creations of the mind and can help its proprietor in benefitting from it. As such, intellectual property can be a significant asset of an entity (individual or company), and its protection can play a pivotal role in the development and growth of the entity.

The presentation will give a broad introductory overview of the different types of intellectual properties, with a focus on utility patents, requirements for obtaining a utility patent, steps to take before filing and discuss filing strategies.
