The Department of Chemistry & Chemical Biology’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Committee is excited to host another book club for summer 2025! We will be reading The Break by Katherena Vermette. Katherena is a Michif writer from Treaty 1 Territory, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The Break is Katherena’s first novel, and has won many awards including: Amazon First Novel Award, Burt Award for First Nation, Inuit and Metis Literature, Carol Shields Winnipeg Book Award, Margaret Laurence Award for Fiction, McNally Robinson Book of the Year Award.

If you would like to participate in the book club, the expectation is that you will come to the dedicated meetings ready to discuss the chapters on the agenda for that day. To register for the book club, please complete this form by Monday May 26 at 11:59pm.
