McMaster recruits five top scholars: Suzanne Lapi joins the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology

Suzanne Lapi, an internationally recognized researcher in isotope production and radiopharmaceutical innovation, has joined the Department of Chemistry & Chemical Biology effective September 1, 2026 as the new Eddie Goldenberg Research Chair in Isotope Production and Radiopharmaceutical Innovation.

Lapi was based at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where her research focused on isotope production, radiopharmaceutical design, advanced imaging and therapeutic strategies. At McMaster, Lapi will lead a molecular imaging and theranostics research program. Her work will leverage McMaster’s world-class nuclear facilities and established expertise in nuclear medicine to develop new radioisotope-based approaches for patient care.

Her appointment is part of McMaster’s selection of five Eddie Goldenberg Research Chairs of Canada, each receiving $8 million over eight years to establish high-impact research programs and train the next generation of research leaders. Read more about the other Chairs at McMaster News.
