nmrnet to uxnmr conversion

Thank you to everyone who replied to my request for help last week, and special
thanks to Peter Barron of Bruker (Australia).

Bruker are aware of the problem of the "conv" and "convswp" commands within
UXNMR.

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS:

1)BRUKNET and ZZNET transfer aspect3000 24 bit data with byteswapping ie
swapping the 1st and 3rd bytes.
NMRNET transfers aspect3000 data WITHOUT byteswapping, ie data is send in
correct byte order.

2) The UXNMR "conv" command will recognise the byteswapped aspect3000 data
(ie that sent by BRUKNET), and successfully convert it to UXNMR format.
Filenames must be uppercase with a correct extension eg FILENAME.001

(If data sent by NMRNET is byteswapped by a program such as BYTESWAP.EXE
(DOS program available from cecnmr.mps.ohio-state.edu (same ftp site as
NMRNET)) then
the "conv" command will also read it.)

3) The "convswp" command will successfully recognise and convert NMRNET
data that has NOT been byteswapped IF you enter the specific file name.

Example:
After typing "convswp", the response is
"enter station:" am400
"enter filename:" FILENAME.EXT (eg TEST.001)

The "?" option to list "convswp" recognisable files DOES NOT work on our
version (940510B12), and will tell you that there are NO files to convert!

However, the "?" option does work for the "conv" command.

Bob.
