Three positions (two postdoctoral and one research assistant)
exist for persons with experience in peptide and protein
structure determination using NMR spectroscopy. These
positions are supported by ARC project grants. One position
involves structural studies on multidomain proteinase
inhibitors, another involves structure determination and
structure-activity studies on uteroactive proteins, and a
third project involves structure determination of peptide-
based analogues of enterotoxin. The positions are funded by
ARC project grants and are available for up to three years.
A number of other projects involving structural studies on
proteins (12-40 kDa) and protein-ligand interactions are
in-progress or under development, and there will be opportunity
to interact on a range of projects.
Applicants should have skills in peptide and protein structure
determination by NMR spectroscopy. Experience in the solid-
phase synthesis of peptides would be an advantage for two of
the positions. The Centre for Drug Design and Development is
equipped with high-field NMR (500 MHz) and X-ray
crystallography facilities, as well as associated
computational and graphics technology (Silicon Graphics
workstations). In conjunction with the Centre for Magnetic
Resonance, the 3D Centre will commission a 750 MHz
spectrometer in late 1995 which will be used for these
projects. The Centre is also equipped with extensive peptide
synthesis, organic synthesis and biochemistry laboratories,
and the structural information derived
from the above projects will form the basis of drug design and
development applications.
Salary will be according to experience and current ARC
guidelines. Either new or senior Postdoctoral Fellows are
invited to apply. Part-time applicants may be considered for
the research assistant position.
Interested persons should send a CV and letter of application
