T1 experiment problems

We have had some curious results from some T1 experiments done on our
AM300 spectrometer and I'm wondering if anyone has run into the same thing.
Generally one expects the T1 curve to be of exponential shape and the Bruker
T1 calculation routine is so based, I believe. For the most part this is the
type of shape that we observe, however in one or two instances the curve is
slightly or grossly distorted from the exponential shape

In the first case, the line goes through a maximum and then drops
somewhat before leveling out:

x x
x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x
x
x
x
x
x
x

In the second case the line goes through a maximum and then falls away
without leveling out:

x x
x x
x
x
x x
x
x x
x x

Has anyone run across these effects? What might their cause be and how
can we minimize them or get rid of them?
