The title sums it up. We have 2 Aspect 3000s. We need to get the data
off them and into an SGI so we can process the data with UXNMR. Bruker
sold us a program called NMRLink which transfers the data from an Aspect
to a PC. I was told I would need to purchase third party software which
would allow the pc to NFS mount the SGI partition where the data should
end up. At that point, the data would flow from the Aspect, thru the
pc, and into the SGI. Within UXNMR is a command that converts NMRLink
data to UXNMR format.
Except it doesn't work. As the data flows thru the pc, the filename is
transformed into lowercase letters. Two different vendors of pc
software have told me this is inherent in the DOS operating system. The
conversion command in UXNMR only recognizes UPPER case filenames as true
ASPECT 3000 data. My current fix is to have students log-onto the SGI,
change to where the transferred data is, copy the data to new filenames,
change back to their home directories, run UXNMR, do the conversion, and
then process. This will not work for more than a few users.
Does anyone out there use NMRLink? How do you get around this problem?
Bruker hasn't answered my last two emails, and I have undergraduate
classes waiting to use one of these systems (in addition to all the grad
students who want access).
Thanks for your help,
Karen Ann
