NMRLink Data Transfers from Aspect 3000s to SGIs - NFS and filename CASE
conversion.

Hi,

I can see one solution to this, but I'm sure it's not the only one.

If you get rid of NFS, run Windows for Workgroups on the pc and run the
freely available (and free) Samba server on the SGI you can share
portions (or all) of the SGIs filestore with the PC (just like with NFS)
BUT I'm sure you can tell Samba how to handle filenames when copying
them to Unix. You can tell it to make them all upper, all lower (or if
you are running NT on the PC preserve the case and use long filenames).

I use Samba on an Indy to store all the deparments NMR files for both
UNIX and PC, but I run Bruknet on the A3000 which means all workstations
have a connection directly to the Aspect.

If you need any more info just drop me a line... if you want to find out
about samba then there is a link to the package and it's associated WWW
site in my www page at:
