Making a serial connection (not!)

Dear Bruker Users,
I'm trying to make a serial connection between an Aspect-3000
and an Aspect Station 1 so as to use Kermit for data transfer. So far this
has been completely unsuccessful. Has anyone got any suggestions? (Please
don't tell me that this a slow, cranky old way of transferring data! I know that,
but it's all I've got available just now.)

Possible areas of error are the /etc/inittab file on the AS1, the ports
I'm using (tty03 on the AS1, RS232-D on the A3K), the usual communications things
such as parity settings, and of course pin connections (although I've swapped
things about, as one does in these cases). There's also the possibility of some
unpublished limitations or rules that I've failed to observe. Using this port on
the A3K I've successfully connected and transferrred both text and data to our VAX
mainframe and my Macintosh, but I've not made any connection to the AS1 before.

Alan
