However:
Problem I: A Ricoh RO-5031E MO disk (that was the only supported such
device on the Aspectstation 1, we were told) can not be made to work on
the Indy so far... Does anyone know how to interface the Ricoh to the
Indy ? Silicon Graphics seem to provide drivers for a newer HP drive - are
these likely to work also for the Ricoh ? Ricoh do not have a Swedish
representative for anyting else than copying machines, and we have not
been able to sort this out ...
Problem II: The Mitsubishi B/W videoprinter intended for use with the
Aspectstation is incompatible with the
graphics card on the Indy, and Bruker have suggested we use a simple
HP Colorjet printer instead. However, that picture quality is simply
inadequate (not enough grayscales etc) for some imaging applications.
Also, one would prefer a solution, where the 'image' is stored in some
common picture format, for incorporation into (or manipulation with)
some PC program like Lotus Freelance, Micrografx Designer or similar
(rather than a one-shot screen dump, like on a videoprinter).
Bruker supplied us with a temporary version of ParaVision for
manipulating images on the Indy, but we have not found a way of storing
the images in the way mentioned. Also, we have not found any good output
device that gives full justice to images produced - probably something
very fancy (and expensive) is available for medical imaging - we would
like to know about any known and reasonable solution to our problems.
