Dear Bum-ers
thanks for everyone's help regarding my recent mail on remote
printing - we have now solved the problem. Following suggestions from
Stefano Caldarelli and Graham Barlow, we used a printer interface
program (/usr/spool/lp/interface/"printername") which copies the file
from the aspect to the indy, then executes a remote shell to print it and
remove it. Now all printing on the aspect can be done using the lp spooler
so setting up uxnmr to plot and print properly is no problem. Incidentally
the interface program was generated using mknetpr on the Indy, copying it
to the Aspect, making a couple of changes to get it working under the Aspect's
operating sytem; the Aspectstation does not have mknetpr.
Once again thanks for the advice. I hope we can return the favour
sometime!
Martin
