POST-DOC POSITION IN BIOCHEMISTRY OF DNA

Post-doctoral position in structural biochemistry of DNA adducted with
chemical carcinogens. We are working on understanding how specific
chemical carcinogens bind to and form adducts with DNA, and how these
adducts play a role in mutagenesis. We refine solution structures of
adducted oligodeoxynucleotides using molecular dynamics restrained by NMR
data, including NOEs and vicinal couplings. Candidates with expertise or
interests in nucleic acid chemistry, high field NMR spectroscopy, and
molecular modeling or computational biochemistry are encouraged to apply.
Current NIH-funded projects include analysis of DNA adducts arising from
aflatoxins polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, styrene oixde, and
malondialdehyde. We are affiliated with the NIH-supported Vanderbilt
Center in Molecular Toxicology, an interdisciplinary research and training
program which contains components of organic synthesis, spectroscopy,
structural and mechanistic biochemistry, and molecular biology, and is
well-equipped with instrumentation facilities, including NMR. We are also
affiliated with the NIH-supported Vanderbilt Cancer Center. Send CV and 3
letters of reference to Dr. Michael P. Stone, Department of Chemistry,
Vanderbilt University, PO Box 1822B, Nashville, TN 37235 FAX 615
