Sticky Title

I am having trouble with a "sticky title" in quicknmr.
When a user logs on and initiates quicknmr, the entered title will remain
in the title box ("sticks") and cannot be changed. To temporarily remedy
the problem, I cd/u/prog/xwin-nmr1.2/curdir/changer and rm -r QUICKNMR.0
and QUICKNMR.
The next user can then enter a title within quicknmr. Eventually (within a
few experiments), a title will again "stick" and must be cleared.
Sometimes after clearing the sticky title, several users will be able to
enter a title, but eventually a title will stick - the event seems to be
triggered randomly.
I am running an ARX with IRIX 5.3 and XWIN 1.2.
I also had this problem with our Aspect station running Uxnmr (before our
recent upgrade).
The title file is empty and care was taken not to accidentally save an
experiment with a title - the title files associated with the experiments
have been checked and are found to be empty.
Any suggestions?
