Dear BUMList Readers,

We have recently discovered that the SGI O2 under IRIX 6.3 will support
three file formats:

1) xfs - SGI
2) fat - dos/windows
3) hfs - mac

We had to give up on the use of PC preformatted Jaz cartridges because
disk I/O was so slow. Reformatting these to xfs format speeds up disk I/O
tremendously. While it may seem to be convenient to use the existing
PC/Mac format it is not worth the time wasted particularly on the larger 1
Gig Jaz drive.
