Q1. our US-mapped Aspect-1 keyboard has been replaced because malfunction
with a Spainis-mapped Cherry keyboard... it works fine, it's just that
the keys map no longer corresponds to the real keyboard :-(
i know this could be done by exchanging key's caps (eeeks!) or by
remapping (xmodmap) the whole stuff in the X-server configuration
files, or ... but this wouldn't help me in having the keyboard wrongly
mapped outside of X windows, and i'm pretty sure there is a way to
remap the whole thing by calling a 'keymap' file for spanish keyboards
(at least this is the way it works in other unix boxes). Hence the question:
how could i configure an Aspect-1 to recognize a spanish-keyboard?
how do i reconfigure the keymap under X-windows running on a Aspect-1 ?
Q2. sometimes, when starting an acquisition using a pulse program that involves
gradients, we get on screen an error message stating that directory "/u/exp/s"
cannot be found and the gradient programs either... obviously, it's trying to
read the gradpros at "/u/exp/stan/nmr..." but somehow the path gets chopped :-(
Redefining the gradient pulses fixes the problem (ie, the next time it gets
the full & correct path), but this is quite annoying when starting multiple
experiments to run over night or during the weekend.
Is there a patch/fix available? This is xwinnmr 1.2 running on the same
Aspect-1 mentioned in Q1
Now, let's move away from the Aspect-1. We are now sitting in front of a PC,
hooked to two AC-based spectrometers with NMRLINK,
Q3. NMRLINK is working fine with one of the ACs, but it always 'timeouts'
when attempting to transfer files from the other AC. Besides (and before)
we start exchanging Aspect boards, is there an easy way to know whether
the parallel port on the Aspect is correctly working or not?
we have discarded the PC, NMRLINK board on the PC, and the program as the
source of problems... we haven't tested the cable, but we hooked the cable
that works with the other AC and it failed as well.
Q4. still in the same PC, now using Getfile 9509xx (don't remember the exact
version number). When transferring files from a Aspect-X32, Aspect-1 or
SGI workstation to the PC the big-vs-little endianess stuff is correctly
handled... but it is not the other way! it ended up having to read my files
into Matlab and then saving them with the correct byte order...
is this a known 'feature' of the 95xxxx version fixed in later releases
(to which we plan to upgrade some day)
