Help with decoupling experiment

One of our grad students (read faculty members) wants to observe
proton while decoupling cobalt-59. My initial approach was to use the
standard proton-decoupled carbon-13 experiment with appropriately altered
nucleii and sweep widths etc. However when the experiment is started all
of the indicator lights on the X-nucleus display (on an AMX-300 console)
turn off, the lock signal becomes severely noisy and the spectrometer
loses lock during acquisition. When the adc goes off lock is regained.

The lock problem appears to be some type of interference when the
X-nucleus decoupling is on. A filter of some type might be helpful. What I
do not understand is why the front panel indicator lights go out. Any
ideas on why either of these things are happening would be appreciated.
