Printing problems

I have a data station set up for processing data from my AC, ASX, and
Avance. The computer is an O2 running IRix 6.3 and xwin 2.?

The plotter/printer is a HP Deskjet 1600CM (colour) with postscript.

The problem:

if I install this with the Irix system manager/printer manager as a
generic printer it prints and plots with one problem. _All_ output ends
with a new page with ERROR: timeout OFFENDING COMMAND: timeout STACK:

ls| lp does this, as well as [print] from Netscape and (most important)
xwinplot.

Bruker suggested not using IRIX, but using cfpp in xwin. If I do that,
I either get ls| lp working and xwinplot giving pages and pages (and pages
and...) of a column of numbers; or I get no plots or I get no output at
all. The pages of numbers imply (to me) that there is a postscript/hpgl
problem. Perhaps the plot command in xwin is wrong? I use the default.

I hate to see this stupid error message each time someone plots or prints-
and I hate the paper waste.

Any ideas, suggestions, hints, etc?

Thanks,

KAren Ann
