Here are the details...
On our vintage '92 AMX-400 (X/32 cpu3), we
replaced the original SMD equipment with all
SCSI drives about a year ago. We have
several SCSI drives, but our main boot drive
is a Seagate ST32151N 2GB drive.
In the last few days we have been getting
the following error messages about the disk
on the screen when we execute uxnmr:
PARX: Adding overlay
/u/prog/940510.13.6.1/parx/bin/tip_par....
ditto------------------------/f_dens.....
ditto-----------------------/uxnmr_pars.....
PARX: Adding overlay
/u/exp/stan/par/parx/bin/imnd.......
More significant is the fact that after it
scrolls through the above messages, the
following error message appears...
NCR: no space on Port SCSI: A Drive 0 Slice 1
Seagate ST3151N = GNX Link: Write error on
file '/usr/tmp/GAAG 00283' ld error exit:
ld_status0x100;
exit0x1;signal0.
We have 1300 blocks free space on /usr, so
we are not out of space.
In spite of these disturbing errors, the
system seems to function just fine. We have
not yet found anything that we cannot do.
But we are concerned about the disk.
We have run fsck on the drive with no errors.
We performed the error mapping utility in
stand/ncrtest two times, which resulted in
the message: "BAD MAGIC / Inconsistency in
ERRMAP" after an 'rmap' command. We also
have run 'uxnmr -r', which did not help.
We are in the process of backing up data,
and will probably reformat this drive, but
we were wondering if anyone has encountered
the "PARX" message before. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
<nofill>
