When I worked at the University of Iowa, we printed out labels on white
paper using a laser printer and a very small sans serif font (5 point?).
We then cut out these very tiny labels and stuck them to the tops of the
scm buttons with clear adhesive tape. Not elegent, and it doesn't last
indefinitely, but it's fast and cheap.
