HP7550a plotter and 2100 printer on O2 summary

I recently posted a request for information concerning
connecting an HP7550a pen plotter to an O2, and some
minor difficulties with buffer overflow on a HP2100 printer.

Summary:

The HP550a plotter is not compatible with the serial port on the
O2. However, the HP7550+ is - don't know whether to blame
HP or SGI for this one :-) I have a 7550+ on another instrument, so
I may just swap them around and see how it works. The long term
solution, of course, is to break down and buy a large format
colour ink-jet printer.

The problem with the 2100 printer seems to be a problem
with the timing on the O2 parallel port, and seems similar
to Bruker bug report #1027. At least after making the changes
suggested in that report I haven't seen the problem. Thanks to
Dr. Günter Schmidt at Bruker for bringing this report to my attention.

Cheers,
-Kirk
