minimum configuration - Summary

Bumers,
Thanks to everyboy who replied to my question about minimizing disk
space.
The consensus among most suggestions was to rather get a larger disk
or move the X-WInNMR istallation to another disk than trying to
mess around with the Unix installation.
My immediate solution was the later, move XWinNMR to my data
disk (4MB).

There is however a description of minimum system requirements for
Bruker spectrometers in the file /u/prog/bin/install.net/manual.53 (or
manual6.5 for IRIX6.5, respectively) of the NMRSuite distribution
(chapter 2.2).
Thanks to Clemens Anklin of Bruker for pointing that out.

My lesson I learned here is though that one should not mess with the
operating installation unless it is unavoidable, and if one needs to
make changes, to reinstall from scratch ( meaning: start with mkfs).
And don't expect to be able to do a full restore from a backup tape, at
least in my case that turned things from bad to worse :-)
Thanks again
Holger
